During a guided tour through Manuel Antonio National Park, a group of wildlife enthusiasts set out with a clear mission: to see sloths and toucans—and they weren’t disappointed! Both animals were spotted clearly, to the delight of everyone. But the real thrill came with an unexpected encounter: a velvet snake (Bothrops asper), a rare and venomous species, made a surprise appearance, adding an unforgettable twist to an already amazing tour. Our guests were thrilled to observe both species up close, capturing stunning photos and enjoying the quiet moments that only nature can provide. The sight of a sloth lounging peacefully in the treetops and a toucan flashing its vivid colors against the green canopy left lasting impressions. But the surprises didn’t end there. Midway through our walk, we encountered something few expect to see: a Bothrops asper, commonly known as the fer-de-lance or terciopelo. Known for its powerful presence and camouflage, this snake drew equal parts awe and respect. Safely observed from a distance, it reminded us just how wild and wonderful the rainforest truly is. Every tour is different, but moments like these, unscripted and unforgettable, are what make each adventure so special.
