Esteban our guide was amazing he found every animal on our list that we wanted to see. He helped us get amazing pictures we wouldn’t have gotten otherwise.

Frank was just incredible! We had him for a day and night tour (so you may see this review on the website already, using the same one for both tours). He was knowledgeable, was able to find animals that we could barely see even with his binoculars. There were kids in our tour and he was great with them too.

We saw a rare snake called the bromeliad boa, he taught us about all the iguanas (because I told him they were a fave) he spotted a couple of sloths and howler monkeys, bats, frogs, etc.

Things to know:

The day tour was at 12 noon and there were very few birds. Birds are out more in the morning.

Be careful where you touch and step, especially at night. Frank caught one of our group members moments before placing their hand on a railing with a wanderer snake (I think that’s what it’s called) underneath. They probably would have gotten bitten had frank not caught that.

In Manuel Antonio you cannot bring any food or plastic water bottles. During the day They check every bag and have you buy a locker or toss everything before entering. They didn’t check bags during the night tour. But apparently monkeys can smell food even when stowed away. So just don’t bring any food.

The beach you reach after hiking through the woods is beautiful. I think the beach near there that doesn’t require that wooded hike is just at beautiful, and you can bring food to those.

Highly recommend an animal tour of some sort if you visit Costa Rica, and this is a great one to choose.

It was phenomenal to be surrounded by the night sounds of the rainforest and our guide was able to spot things like a superpower. He found a spider from 100 yards away, and tiny little frogs. It was totally family, friendly, even for our insect hating children. Highly recommend.

This was a great experience. You get to see true nature. Our guide was so incredibly knowledgeable and spotted critters we never would have seen. The monkeys cuddling in the trees was so awesome. The Cayman was really cool.

Esteban was a great tour guide. The highlight was seeing a nursing squirrel monkey. Of course we saw so many other frogs, snakes, spiders and monkeys

We visited on 19th March, our was amazing at spotting teeny frogs & bats hiding, as well as lizards, iguanas birds and sloths. Some of which we would not have spotted ourselves.

We were fortunate enough to have Frank as our guide for a night walk. He gave the most educational tour ever! We saw lizards, spiders, birds and frogs- including the beautiful red eyed tree frog. We also spotted a Kinkajou. He took amazing photos through his scope and shared them with us. It was an amazing experience! Highly recommend!

We spent a wonderful couple of hours with Frank, who was a kind and extremely knowledgeable guide. The property is beautiful, and we saw far more than we expected. A terrific way to spend our last night in Costa Rica – thoroughly recommend this for people of all levels of knowledge and experience.

It started raining around 5 pm, our meeting spot was scheduled for 5:55. We ended up being the only people who showed and our guide was so gracious considering he also had to walk in the rain. Frank was amazing, so knowledgeable, and he made the experience amazing. Thankfully it was misting by the time we got into the full canopy and the rain made for a great experience. We saw so many frogs, he went above and beyond to try to find things we were interested in. Frogs, birds, spiders!! Oh my!!! We also ended up seeing a Kingkajou!!! And a deer! Frank also had a delicious lemongrass ice tea waiting for us when we got back. So so grateful for the experience he gave us and all of the knowledge, he was a perfect mix of fun, jokes and information. Highly highly recommend!!!

Very interesting tour! We saw frogs and toads, a scorpion, a cayman, a kinkajou and a gray four-eyed opossum++. The guide was very knowledgeable and engaging.

I really enjoyed the night hike with Frank! He was genuinely excitied to show us around and teach us about the nighttime ecosystem. We saw frogs, snakes, and a sloth. Definitely recommend

Esteban was fantastic! He was able to spot so many nocturnal animals. Almost none of us could discover the animals on our own. They blend in so easily! He had a powerful telescope and helped us take cool pictures! Our ten and fourteen year-old loved it!

To add to a great stay (at a lodge in Biophillia Park) we decided to book

a night walk. Frank was our guide; he was SUPER! We learned & saw a lot (frogs, toads, kayman, spiders, scorpions, and even a sloth!). Would definitely recommend!

Our guide Frank was able to find all kinds of animals and insects, a scorpion, snake, caiman, and an anteater! He got us great pictures and had a lot of knowledge! The only complaint was that it was very hard to find in the rain and the dark and we had to communicate with Frank multiple times before we found him.

Turned a very soggy night walk into a great experience. Our guide Esteban could of canceled our outing due to rain. Not only did he get completely soaked because he gave his umbrella to my wife,he had a positive enthusiastic attitude despite the conditions. We had a good time and saw lots of wildlife , baby camin , tree frogs ,snake, kinkajo,night hawk,sloth and white tail deer. All with the trails being inaccessible due to flooding. Can’t thank him enough for putting up with 2 idiots that want to walk in the rain. Im sure he won’t forget that night as we wont.

We did not know exactly what to expect, but Esteban put us at ease. The sound of the frogs’ mating calls was extraordinary and the variety of creatures we saw was impressive. He has a natural radar to find the animals. You gotta move quick sometimes, but we were lucky to see a possum, anteater, white-tailed deer, white-faced monkey, spiders, scorpion, caimans, and, of course, frogs!

We Airbnb’d close to Biophilia, and are so glad we chose to do their tours! Esteban was our guide for the jungle nightwalk and was amazing! He has an eye for spotting animals we would have never seen otherwise! We saw an anteater, scorpions, walking stick insects, an alligator eating a gigantic toad :), and all kinds of other things. Beatriz was our guide for the medicinal plant tour and her knowledge was on point and she kept us smiling the whole time! Highly recommend!

We had an awesome night tour! Our tour guide, Esteban, did an amazing job finding all kinds of creatures and REALLY knows how to take great pics which he shared with us. We saw caymans, sleeping toucans, lots of insects and spiders, frogs, scorpions… the highlight was the 2m long fer de lance snake that we encountered on the road. We really enjoyed ourselves and recommend this tour.

Frank was happy to go in the pouring rain and show us amazing wildlife. We saw a gecko, alligators, green dart frog, and a bunch of other cool animals. He even gave us a real restaurant recommendation in Quepas and it was delicious. Strong recommendation!

Frank Cerdas gave my son and I a very educational night walk. It’s amazing how he finds creatures even at night. His ultraviolet flashlight finds things not visible to the naked eye. I would recommend the night tour as much as the daytime tour as there is so much to see.

Great tour!  Like many have said, Danny does a great tour.  He takes ridiculously professional photographs along the tour, and then shares them afterwards, so you leave with great pictures of the frogs, lizards, and birds you see.  I brought a 5 year old and a 9 year old and they were able to keep up, it wasn’t too difficult.

Frank is a wonderful and knowledgeable guide. He was able to locate and show us many creatures in the night jungle. He also photographed them for us and dropped them to our phone so that we could fully focus on what we were seeing in the moment, which was perfect.

We had an amazing experience on our night jungle tour, with an Intelligent, exceptional guide Estéban, who spotted so many amazing creatures like kingfisher, sleeping monkey, lots

of frogs and scorpions, a porcupine enjoying a snack and so much more! He provided a wealth of information and is so genuine and kind. We absolutely highly recommend this tour!

Our tour guide Esteban, was fantastic. We visited in the rainy season in the midst of some light rain and our guide enthusiastically searched for wildlife and provided a lot of education as well. He delivered on finding a red eyed frog, and bonus… even a Ferdilance snake.

April 8, 2025 our family of four went on the night tour with Diego as our guide. Even though it was raining, we all had rain gear and had a fantastic adventure. Diego was a very professional guide that shared his knowledge regarding each frog, insect, etc. that we saw. This was an adventure we will never forget. Thank you Diego for sharing your stories with us.

We received a WhatsApp message beforehand from

our tour guide, Frank, advising us to bring rain gear given the forecast, but I said we didn’t mind getting a little wet (3 of us are from the Seattle area) and that at least it would be warm. As predicted, we got a 30-minute downpour but it was over by the time the tour’s shuttle from our lodgings delivered us to the site. The much-welcome water delivered a great experience for us, tho, as we almost immediately spotted 2 red-eyed tree frogs not much higher than eye level! We also saw spiders, dragonflies, scorpions, a “fast”-moving 2-toed sloth, toads, lightning/click bugs, stick plant, a couple Jesus Christ lizards (the ones that run on water), and caymans, too. No snakes, which was ok by me. Frank was so patient with our very talkative 6-year old who was obsessed with the leaf-cutter ants almost to the exclusion of all the other critters and so knowledgeable and informative with all of us. He also AirDropped over 70 (!) photos to us that he’d taken with his telescope completely free of charge at the end of the tour—they’re amazing! This was a great experience that we highly recommend. Pura Vida!

Esteban was AMAZING! I didn’t see a sloth in Antonio Manuel Park, so we thought we wouldn’t get to see one on our trip. Steven came through and we got see not only a sloth but a sleeping humming bird, scorpion, caiman and so much more. A once in a lifetime experience!

Esteban was a font of information and very friendly. We enjoyed seeing caiman, an iguana, frogs, toads, scorpions, spiders, and the highlight, a kinkajou leaping from tree to tree.

When we signed up for this tour, we did not know what to expect. The experience was excellent! As Esteban led us through the jungle area he was able to spot many spiders, frogs, birds, and even sloths. With his high-powered scope, he used our phones to take some amazing pictures that we will always treasure. This was an amazing experience to explore and learn about the jungle and wildlife at night! Our guide Estevan was so knowledgeable and really tried to find some animals that we mentioned wanting to see! I would recommend this to anyone traveling to the area!!

We took the two adults and two kids (7 & 9) and couldn’t imagine our Costa Rica adventure without it! Frank was a wonderful guide, full of knowledge and obvious passion for his work. We learned about the country, flora and fauna, and learned about this amazing country on a deeper level. We went to Night tour with our 2 children (4 and 6 years). The tour is perfect for familys even with Young Children. Diego, our guide, took time to explain a lot to us and you could feel his love of nature and the animals. Even though our children where a little impressed of beeing in jungle at night it was safe and they are proud of telling about it now.

We had a night tour at Biophilia Park from 6-9 p.m. with the tour guide Esteban. Fortunately, my boyfriend and I were the only ones at the tour. Esteban was amazing! Even before entering the park he showed us the first big frog. We saw a lot of poisonos spiders (banana spider), frogs, skorpions, a little sleepy monkey and even a little snake. He was also very careful with the plants and also explained everything very well! He made the perfect photos wirh my phone. It was truly perfect. Would recommend it!

Frank led us on an exciting trek through the dark rain forest. He was able to find an amazing number of nocturnal animals. Extremely knowledgeable, very helpful in all the important ways. I learned SO much.

Your country is beautiful

This was one of the most enjoyable tours I’ve experienced in all my travels. Although I’m usually very afraid of spiders, I felt completely safe and found myself excited to see them. My guide, Esteban, was fantastic! He is incredibly knowledgeable, sharing fascinating facts and answering all my questions with ease. Not only did he introduce us to the animals, but he also educated us on their crucial roles in the ecosystem. We were fortunate to encounter a caiman, snakes, frogs, tarantulas, scorpions, and even some sleeping birds.

Absolutely wild! This tour was constant excitement! I had no idea how engaging it would be for the full duration. Our family of four had an amazing time. I wore my 2 year old on my back, but maybe wished I hadn’t brought him just due to being worried he would touch something poisonous (he didn’t). Esteban kept us active and safe the entire time. I would highly recommend this tour, my 8 year old will be talking about this and showing off his pictures forever.

Estéban was our amazing guide. He is skilled at locating a variety of animals, and knows a ton about the natural history and habits of each. His individual short stories about the animals were the best as they helped us create memories of each. Along the way, Estéban also shared history of the park itself and of Costa Rican conservation efforts.

He showed us kankajou, gecko, bats, stick bugs, an emerging cicada, enormous grasshoppers and crickets, scorpions, wandering Brazilian spiders, and a half dozen species each of orb weaver spiders and frogs.

Amazing experience.

We had a fantastic time in the jungle at night. Led by our fearless guide, Esteban, we saw and heard the nature that surrounded us. Esteban is incredibly talented at spotting and noticing animal and insects that are all over the place. He also proved his naturalist skills by teaching us about the flora and fauna we were amidst. Definitely wear long pants, long shirt, and closed-toed shoes. It didn’t start raining until the end of our walk, which was nice, but we had brought rain jackets just in case. A good headlamp or flashlight would help, too. The tour provides flashlights, but they were small and not very bright. Overall, a great experience.

We did a beautifull night tour and saw different kind of frogs, birds, spiders, and other insects and even a snakes and a sleeping sloth! Top of the evening was a scorpion which gives light!

What a unique experience to walk around and see the jungle come alive at night. We had the most amazing tour guide, Esteban, who had such great positive energy. This was our first time to Costa Rica, and this tour really helped us to understand the setting in which we were visiting.

My family and I ( 2 adults, 2 children ages 13 and 8) had an amazing time during this nightwalk. Our guide, Esteban, had a lot of knowledge and, even more important, took the time to explain everything we saw not only to us but also to the children. And yes, that took some little more time since English isnt their first language but Esteban was very patient with them.

Frank was an absolutely incredible tour guide for our group on our first night in Costa Rica. Embarking on a night hike in Costa Rica is a fantastic adventure that takes you to the core of the rainforests at night. Led by very knowledgeable guides, the experience reveals a vibrant ecosystem with life, from colorful tree frogs to elusive sloths and kinkajous.

There is not only frog but also sleeping bird, scorpion, sloth, monkey…..

Exploring the jungle late at night was something out of my comfort zone for sure. But as soon as the tour started I found comfort from the tour guide. He was so intelligent, any question I had there was no hesitation to hear an answer back. Seeing how comfortable he was made me feel safe and secure. Aside from this, it was amazing how quickly he was able to find little creatures and animals and explain/ name every single one of them. It blew my mind, I was so impressed. This experience is unlike any other and I am so glad I had the chance to experience this tour. Would definitely recommend.

We visited Costa Rica in March 2024 and had so many excellent adventures, but absolutely the most memorable has to be the guided night hike at Biophilia Park! Our great guide helped us stay safe in the forest and helped everyone in the group get great views of some cool frogs, a snake, a glowing-in-UV-light scorpion, and many other cool critters. It’s surreal being in such a wild place at night — not to be missed!

The night tour was a lot of fun. It was a completely different experience getting to hike the park at night and see the nocturnal activity. Our guide, Estevan, was extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and was able to spot just about all the wildlife we came across. Highly recommend!

My wife and I took this tour to get a good look at the animals that you wouldn’t typically see. Our guide was fantastic, very knowledgeable and able to spot things that we couldn’t see if we were looking right at it. We had a wonderful time and would certainly do it again!
