Yes, the park is family-friendly, and a guided tour can be a great way for kids to learn about wildlife and nature engagingly. Just make sure to check with the tour operator about any age restrictions or recommendations.
Wear lightweight, breathable clothing, comfortable walking shoes, and a hat for sun protection. Don’t forget to bring sunscreen and insect repellent, as well as a rain poncho just in case.
Manuel Antonio Park is known for its diverse wildlife, including sloths. Your guide will be skilled in spotting these elusive creatures, so keep your eyes peeled and your camera ready!
Weather aside, which started sunny before it became rainy and then ended sunny, Manuel Antonio Park is absolutely massive and beautiful, there were so many animals, plants and sights to see and the Park even leads onto the main beach. Additionally, the guides (ours was Aldo) were knowledgable, friendly and engaging, definitely a must see.

Had a good experience, thankfully the rain held off for our tour, though rained the night/morning before (which was o.k. for the animal behavior). We had one guest in our group that was a bit of a challenge…but that happens often.

Our guide Andrés showed us so many animals we had not spotted before such as snakes, Jesus Christ lizards and glass frog eggs. He also taught us about the difference between poisonous and venomous animals. His love for and knowledge of the national parc was very inspiring. We saw a lot of animals. Please Support the guides. Diego was a very Good Guide. The beaches are beautiful. Please be Aware it is Not allowed to bring Food Inside and plastic bottles inside the Park. Take your things with You, that you can stay at the Beach and loose no time to Go back to car.

This tour was wonderful! You get to see (and hear) wildlife of Costa Rica in their natural habitat. What makes the tour extra special is that the tour guide uses his telescope to show you the animals higher up in the trees and take high definition photos of the wildlife that you see (to share with you via Google drive so that you don’t even have to worry about capturing good photos). At the end of the tour, you come to a beautiful beach so bring your swimsuits to enjoy that as well. A wonderful experience that I highly recommend!

Our guide, Esteban, was a professional spotter of all wildlife, from the small rainbow cricket to the hidden sloths! This tour enabled us to see much more wildlife than if we were on our own. Esteban was very knowledgeable of the park and all of the wildlife we encountered. We saw several white faced monkeys, a howler monkey, 2 sloths, agouti, crabs, lizards, a hummingbird, bats, and smasl to large crickets. He also helped us take incredible pictures with the scope. Beatriz is a wonderful guide and we immediately felt at ease with her, very important as the approach to the park is chaotic and not a little stressful if you’re new to Costa Rica.
Beatriz is a very thoughtful and thorough guide with an encyclopaedic knowledge of the park and Costa Rica’s natural world, as well as its history and traditions. Very engaging!
We saw patriotic land crabs, two and three fingered sloths, monkeys and rodents and came away with a better understanding of this luxuriant land. The walk is gentle and there are water points , bathrooms and a cafe within the park and beaches at the end where people can swim. No wading across rivers as stated in the Guide Vert by Michelin, they’ve built a bridge. We saw wheelchairs being used.
All in all, highly recommended!

Our first visit to Manuel Antonio National Park. It was a family group of 11 that included kids ages 15 – 6. It was a wonderful adventure. Our guide was awesome and was patient with the kids. We recommend planning to get in the water, even with the late tour. It was very refreshing to get in the water to cool off after the hike. All of the park employees were wonderful. Beatrice let us view a crocodile through the telescope, even though we weren’t part of her group, and even provided some extra information about a sound we had been hearing at night. Would definitely go back.

We entered the park before our guide Diego Alfaro arrived, we would not have been able to find all the creatures he showed us on our own. There were other guides there from separate organizations but I feel like ours was the best and scientifically inclined to explain plants and animals as we went. The whole tour was great!
We did the private tour and our guide was Andres. Andres has been doing this for 11 years and was so extremely informative. We learned more about the animals and plants than we imagined we would.
Before we entered the park we met at a restaurant since we had our own car. At the meet up Andres showed us a sloth that was literally ten feet from us! In a restaurant parking lot!
We saw monkeys, toucans, lizards, land crabs, a snake eating a lizard, tadpole eggs and I’m sure more. Easy trails to walk with people ages 17-74. There are more difficult trails but we opted to keep it easy. When the tour is over you can stay in the park and swim at the beaches! Awesome experience.

Friendly, knowledgeable, and major attention to detail. The guided tour is 100% worth doing. Our guide Esteban was extremely knowledgeable, and skilled in finding wildlife. He answered every question we had and went above and beyond to take photos of the wildlife. We definitely wouldn’t have been able to find a single animal if we were on our own. I signed up for the guided walking tour through Manuel Antonio NP and Andres was my guide. He was excellent in every way! He knew how to find the animals and made sure everin the group had the opportunity to see them. Along with his “spotter telescope “ he had a lens that attached to his phone so he could take pictures of the animals through the telescope. This was a great way for the participants to enjoy seeing the animals and not worry about dealing with their cameras. Andres was so knowledgeable and you can tell he has a passion for what he does. He is enthusiastic and answered everyone’s questions. I came away from this guided walk with a better understanding and new appreciation for the Costa Rican wildlife. It is so inspiring to see how Costa Rica is dedicated to the biodiversity of the area of to educating the rest of us about its importance. 5 Stars to Andres!

We did a guided tour in the park and it was excellent. We saw many sloths, birds, lizards, and monkeys. Afterwards, we took our time exploring several trails, each with beautiful views. The Cathedral trail is stunning, but only go if you’re in good shape. It’s definitely worth spending the whole day there. I would absolutely come back again.

The tour with Andres was wonderful!! There were so many tour options for the park, and I am glad I booked my tour directly with the park. Andres was an enthusiastic and very knowledgeable tour guide also very focused on safety which I appreciated. We saw many animals, and he used his scope to take pictures which he emailed to us later. The pictures were professional quality. He answered our questions and also extended the tour somewhat beyond the set finish time to ensure our maximum satisfaction enjoying the park’s profound diversity!
If you don’t have a car, the park provides pickup at your hotel included in the price. You have an option of calling the driver when you are finished at the beautiful beach if you need a ride back. We opted for the bus which runs just up the street from the park. Overall, a fantastic experience!

The park was beautiful! Our tour guide, Diego, was absolutely fantastic. He was able to show us wildlife and plants that we wouldn’t have noticed otherwise, which we really appreciated. We saw sloths, monkeys, lizards, land crabs, and tons of cool insects! He was very knowledgeable and answered all of our questions! Would absolutely recommend having a guided tour here!

Beatrix was an outstanding guide for my morning guided tour of Manual Antonio park. She was amazing at spotting and showing us the animals of the park, while sharing interesting information about the animals, the park and Costa Rica. She went out of her way to make sure everyone in the group enjoyed something of their interest, from sloths to trees! Her English is great, her enthusiasm is contagious and her knowledge is vast.

We had a wonderful guide, Andres with Biophilia. He spotted sloths, capuchin monkeys, squirrel monkeys, howler monkeys, snakes, bats, a colorful poisonous spider, and birds. We saw many without the help of a magnified instrument, but we were able to view all with one to see them up close. So interesting! Andres explained about the animal behaviors and helped us to learn about some of the ways the ecosystem works in conjunction with the animals. Our group was small with only 6 people, which made hearing everything he was saying easy. He also provided us with pictures he took during our tour. Very well done tour!

Before the tour, we were unsure if we wanted to do a guided tour but we are so happy we did! Andrés was extremely knowledgeable and very funny. We saw animals, insects, and plants we would have never seen ourselves, and learned so much about them. Andres is just incredible. We had the best time touring the park. He’s incredible at spotting, informative while keeping you engaged the interesting facts about nature. And my god, at some point we all do it for the photos and Andres is the best.

Our walk with our guide, Esteban was fantastic. Super knowledgeable about the park, its residents and the ecosystem. I appreciate him sharing perspective and history to understand overall state of Costa Rica and way of Pura Vida.
We were fortunate to see many of the sought after animals. Esteban was persistent and also kept us away from the crowd. More people on the trails would have been far less enjoyable.

Andres was a fantastic guide. Very knowledgeable with 11 years experience. Had I done the self guide tour I would have missed out on seeing the Viper snake, the bird that sits on the ground and is mistaken for a viper snake!! I loved seeing the bats, a frog, tons of monkeys, and my personal favorite, the sloth! You must get a guide.

We had such an incredible experience on our guided tour with Beatriz at Manuel Antonio National Park! From the moment we met her, her energy was contagious—she’s genuinely enthusiastic about what she does, and it made the entire tour so much more enjoyable.
Beatriz was not only knowledgeable, but also incredibly engaging. She had an amazing eye for spotting wildlife we would have completely missed on our own—sloths, monkeys, tiny frogs—you name it! And she took the time to explain everything in a way that was interesting and easy to follow, even for our kids.
What really stood out was how much she clearly loves her job and the park itself. She shared fun facts, answered all our questions with patience, and made sure everyone in our group felt included and excited. It never felt rushed—just a relaxed, memorable experience from start to finish.
